Beaumont, TX – The American Basketball League (ABL) has added the newly formed Beaumont Crusader for the 2025 season. Co-Owners and California natives Anthony and Nina Clay will build the team from the ground up in what is – for them – new territory: Texas.
The team was to have played in the Los Angeles suburbs in 2022, but with the unfortunate combination of COVID-19 and all ABL activities being put on hold, the Clays decided to move the team – and family – to Texas.
Acting more in the silent partner mode, Anthony is assisting Nina in getting the team off the ground. He is the one searching for a solid coaching staff and other key cogs to the team.
“Coaches. Game Day Staff. Securing a venue. All these things are obviously necessary for a team on this level of basketball to function properly,” ABL President and CEO Mac Claire said. “Someone has to collect tickets. A team needs ball boys and towel boys.
“Anthony will find the right people. I am supremely confident about that.”
The Crusaders’ first ABL season starts in early May.
